Raine's Story
Cape Town, January 2008
23 January 2008
Today was the 3d time that i donated my eggs, and i still feel very happy to be part of something this exciting and huge.
This time i worked with the Vincent Palotti - gang, they were fantastic. Especially Sister Tersia that is an absolute darling.
They were always available to answer any silly questions, only a phone call away.
They first regulated our cycles, me and lady that i was donating for. It took about a month or so, then i was ready for my medication.
It was really very easy to go through the process, just a tiny little injection every day for about 10 days. I went for a couple of scans, to see how the little eggs were doing.
This time round i felt i little uneasy and quite bloated, but this was really a small price to pay for the miracle that will happen here.
Finally the little eggs were ready and big enough....i went in and had a mild anaestetic, and within a hour everything was over and done. I was woken up with a great cup of coffee and a lekker sandwich.
I want to add again that i feel really special to be part of this. We don't do enough good things in our lives, and this is my way of saying thanx for everything i have and my fantastic life.
I really hope that my eggs will do the trick and this lovely lady will receive the best gift ever.....a little miracle baby. |

"It’s such an awesome feeling to know I have helped people in a way that not many people can!
It really makes me realise what is important in life and what is worth spending energy on."
"It’s a strange gig, being an egg donor – you feel so invested in a couple you've never met; you have so much hope and love and joy and other cheesy conceptual nouns for them – it is a difficult thing to explain. I really am cheering for you guys so loudly you can probably hear it!"
"I might not be someone who goes sky diving or climbing Mount Everest to collect money for charity, but this is my Mount Everest. Donating eggs to another woman is one of my greatest achievements, memories and experiences in my life. " |
