Barbados, January 2011
I first saw the ad for GED while browsing online, and I was very curious to find out more about the organization, so I did some research on it. I was particularly moved by the slogan 'a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle' because I really do believe in that principle. Of course, I was quite impressed by the reviews given by others, so I proceeded to fill out an application. I was promptly contacted by a representative (Dionne), who explained in great detail the process of donation, and even showed me what my profile would look like to potential recipients.
Surprisingly, in no time at all, I was informed that a couple wanted my eggs! They wrote me a letter explaining why they wanted to have a baby, and describing their lifestyle. I was very comfortable, so I agreed and the process began.
After having tests done to ensure my good health, I started the medications, which were very successful. The time flew by and soon enough, I was ready for the retrieval procedure. It was very quick and painless, and on that same day, I was able to enjoy the beauty of Barbados, knowing that I had made a significant contribution to someone's life, for which they would always be grateful.
Overall the experience was a very fulfilling and pleasant one, which I look forward to repeating soon.
