Hello, I’m Anne – and This is My Journey with Global Egg Donors

Hello, I’m Anne – and This is My Journey with Global Egg Donors

When I first stepped into the world of egg donation, I was drawn by curiosity, a belief in empowering women, and the chance to work from home while raising my kids.
Then I met Robin and Karen – their passion was contagious. Karen, who’s also a friend, told me about her own experience as a donor for Global Egg Donors and asked if I wanted to join the team in the role of intended parent support. It couldn’t have come at a better time.

Now, I walk alongside intended parents from the moment they apply, through choosing a donor, deciding on a clinic, and all the choices in between.
My favourite part? When the right match is made, and you see the connection between donor and recipient start to grow. It’s magic.
One moment I’ll never forget was receiving a picture of a newborn in her mother’s arms, with a very proud big sister smiling next to them. That’s when it hit me – we’d helped someone complete their family. That’s hugely impactful! Knowing I played a small part in that journey is incredibly humbling.

Of course, there are misconceptions about egg donation. Some assume it’s purely about money, but that’s far from the truth.
While donors may gain financially, the women we work with are motivated by so much more — the opportunity to help others, the sense of connection, and the empowerment that comes from giving such a profound gift. Another myth is that intended parents are ‘shopping’ for perfection — a supermodel with a PhD. In reality, most simply hope for a donor whose personality, appearance, and values align with their own, so their child feels like a natural fit within their family.

Intended parents often need guidance through a sea of choices — the most important being selecting the right donor. I see myself as a matchmaker, a communicator, and a steady hand to help navigate the process. Watching recipients and donors truly “click” is the most rewarding part of my role. My role is to help make that connection, and watching it happen is the best reward.

If you’re considering becoming an egg donor, or you’re looking for one, know this – there’s a special kind of beauty when women support and empower each other.
It’s what makes this journey so extraordinary.
